FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — Fort Pierce Police Department (FPPD) officers found a 16-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to her leg Wednesday afternoon. According to the police department's spokesman Larry Croom, the call came in around 2:15 p.m. and directed authorities to the area. Soon after the shooting, police identified a 15-year-old boy as a person of interest and later arrested then charged him with attempted murder. The suspect was taken to the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Fort Pierce, and the 16-year-old victim was taken to the HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
