FORT PIERCE − A 49-year-old man remains in critical condition Monday after police said a hit-and-run driver struck him over the weekend. The pedestrian was trying to cross U.S. 1 in the area of Edwards Road about 9:43 p.m. Saturday when the incident occurred, said Larry Croom, Fort Pierce police spokesperson. Croom said the man was not in a crosswalk.
